LOCH NESS

The four boats enter the tranquil waters of Urquhart Bay, Loch Ness, from the "Magic Whirlpool." They stop when they reach their proper positions for the scene (a semi-circle around the event site). As they stop, the guests hear the distant sounds of the sonar experiment. The loch starts churning. A sudden release of bubbles fills the event site, followed by a small wall of water (just tall enough so the guests can't see the surface of the event site) shooting up from the loch. Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster, surfaces from the midst of the event site like a submerged dinosaur, and begins howling into the skies, not unlike the dolphins at the original experiment site. After a few howls, Nessie notices the guests and starts to roar and growl at them. A thunderclap introduces the voice of Poseidon, once again emanating from the skies:

. . . . . . . . . . POSEIDON
Alas, the safe and serene waters of Loch Ness prove to be neither as your destructive thunder betrays your very presence.
. . . . . .(to Nessie)
Be still, beast!

Nessie stops growling and submerges. The skies come to life with fast-moving clouds and quickly darkens.

. . . . . . . . . . POSEIDON (Cont'd)
. . . . . .(to guests)
Wonder seizes me at the absurd belief that you can possibly hide from the Great Earth-Encircler! Surely my centuries-old slumber has not fully cast my reputation out of the minds of mortals?

The loch is now pitch black. A series of close lightning strikes falls upon the nearby Castle Urquhart, effectively blinding the guests momentarily. As Poseidon continues his speech, the boats move into the next room in total darkness.

. . . . . . . . . . POSEIDON (Cont'd)
Hear me now, dangerous mortals; my charges against you, which you have been wrapping around your necks like rope, has been tightened another notch. For just as the retreating tides reveals the weary star fish to the hunter, your expeditious flight from Aigia exposes your guilt. Now come to me.

A thunder clap sounds.

NESSIE'S APPEARANCE IN URQUHART BAY

To achieve to effect of Nessie emerging from the waters of Loch Ness, a retaining wall encircling the event site (the place where Nessie appears) rises up a few feet - from 2 feet below the surface of the water to one foot above. The water in the event site will then drain, allowing the large trap doors at the bottom of the event site to open, enabling the large Audio-Animatronic figure to rise, completely dry. A ring of small fountains surrounding the event site prevent the guests from seeing the surface of the water inside (which is not there for long).
