Oct 14, 2002

-Updated (finally) the Video Page (which also has a new look). After a brief absence, we bring back the Quicktime option for those who can't or don't want to view the Real Video file.

-Updated the Mystery Song Contest on the Home Page to reflect a change in the grand prize.

-A couple of updates to the Links page, including the inclusion of David Gray's web site!

Oct 2, 2002

- Updated the Gigs page. Still working on the video, sorry...

Sept 10, 2002

- Updated News column on the Home Page.

Sept 8, 2002

- Updated the sound file for the Mystery Song Contest on the Home Page by adding the entire song via a Real Audio file...

Sept 1, 2002

- Updated Video page. Couldn't access my space on Apple's server, and, since it will be taken from me at the end of the month anyway, I deleted the option to see the clip in Quicktime format. So the videos are now exclusively in Real Video format. Go ahead and download their player - it's free... Thanks to JasonAll for the use of his web space - due to the large size of this month's DSL version of the video clip, the smaller version is over on Jason's space...

Aug 25, 2002

- Updated the Gigs page.

Aug 8, 2002

- Silly Joe gave me the wrong dates for an upcoming gig with 20/20 - so that was fixed in the News column on the Home Page. It wasn't really his fault - there was a miscommunication with Mike, I believe...

Aug 4, 2002

- Created new Video page to include the option to view the monthly video clip in Real Video as well as Quicktime.

- Rotated the video clip for August. Check out the Video page to see the band perform 2 new songs: "I Know" and "Go Away Sunday" from their recent show at the Café Club Fais Do Do in L.A.

- Updated News column on the Home Page.

- Updated the Gigs page to include an upcoming show that Joe is doing.

July 23, 2002

- Updated the Gigs page to include an upcoming acoustic show that Joe is doing.

- Updated News column on the Home Page.

July 21, 2002

- Updated the Gigs page.

July 18, 2002

-Updated the links for the sound files in the Discography section (and elsewhere), which have been moved to another server to make room for the Real Video versions of the monthly video clip. I will be losing the Apple web space that holds the Quicktime version of the video clip at the end of September, so this Real Video version might soon be the only version from then on... I should have the Real Video version up in a few days... I haven't checked every single audio file out yet, so if you have any errors with the clips, let me know and I'll fix it.

July 14, 2002

-Updated News column on the Home Page.

-Updated links to the new Urinals / Happy Squid Records web site on the Links page and elsewhere. If I missed one, let me know...

June 30, 2002

- Rotated the video clip for June. Check out the Video page to see the band perform "I Don't Wanna Be in Love" and "A Fool Like You" at the Starwood in 1979. Video shot by Danny Winters and friends.

June 14, 2002

- Added the first of many lyrics to the Discography section (thanks to JasonAll and Ashley). Others will be slowly added in the future as time allows... Lyrics added this time are for all the songs in LA Explosion, and some from Look Again and Confession.

June 9, 2002

- Updated the Gigs page.

June 6, 2002

-Updated News column on the Home Page.

-Added Mike's "notes behind the songs" to the Discography section (bottom of main page, LA Explosion, Confession, Awakening, Gin & Innuendoes).

June 1, 2002

- Rotated the video clip for June. Check out the Video page to see the band perform "L.A. Explosion," "Obsession" and "Snake in the Grass" at the Starwood in 1980 (thanks to Don Williams). This video clip is encoded by Quicktime 5 - so on earlier versions of Quicktime, you won't hear the sound track. For those of you without Quicktime 5 or later, we will be putting up a Real Video version of the same clip in a week or so. From then on out, we will offer both Quicktime and Real Video versions of each monthly video (thanks to Josh (Last drummer) and his donated web space).

-This page was getting too big, so I split it into sections.

May 2, 2002

- Added 34 new (short) sound clips to the Discography section - all in Real Audio format. Whenever I make big changes like this, there's bound to be many mistakes. I think I caught all the mistakes I made. If you see any mistakes that I missed, let me know.

May 1, 2002

- Rotated the video clip for May. Check out the Video page to see the band perform "Lies" and "Walk Like Me" at the Starwood in 1979 (thanks to Danny Winters, who filmed the show with his friends).

-Updated News column on the Home Page.

-Added a link to Half.com on the Links page. They have a few hard-to-find used Last items for sale.

April 22, 2002

- Knitting Factory show is over, so updated Gigs page.

-Updated News column on the Home Page.

-Updated links to Joe's email address.

-Rearranged link to the Forum to avoid a server which is currently down.

April 19, 2002

- Updated both the Gigs page and History section (2002) with link to pictures from the recent Stockage show. Joe has promised he'll write something for the site about the event soon.

April 18, 2002

-The short-lived 1979 Review page is back up, thanks to Nancy Foreman, who sent me a couple of items from Slash magazine. One is a review (albeit a negative one) from 1980, and the other is a 1979 interview with people living in the church in Hermosa Beach (including Joe). Both items have been added to the Reviews section. The Reviews section contains reviews on records, concerts and also has interviews. The label "Reviews" seems wrong, but it is nice and short and to the point. I was thinking of changing it to "Press," but if you saw "Press" as one of the buttons, you may think it was something else. It's not as clear as "Reviews." I thought about "Media," but that sounds like it may have video media or audio media... Probably not a big point, huh? If anyone has a better idea, tell me.

-Also changed a few of the larger images on the site from GIFs to JPEGs to save downloading time when visiting certain pages.

April 15, 2002

- Stockage is over and Knitting Factory is next, so changes made on the Gigs page.

-Updated News column on the Home Page.

-Added a link to the band Trolley and a link to CD Universe (who apparently still have a couple of Last CDs available for purchase (thanks for the tip, Nancy!)) to the Links page.

April 8, 2002

- Okay, forget about the new 1979 Review page - it's gone. I found out the interview actually happened in 1978, so it has been relocated to that page in the Reviews section.

-So we take one year off the Reviews section and add another - the new addition being 1981, and (thanks so much to Gwynne Garfinkle) a 1981 interview with Joe and Mike, backstage at the Whisky, in between sets. Check it out.

April 7, 2002

- Added a page to the Reviews section (1979), which so far only consists of a 13-minute segment of a radio interview (Real Audio) done by the band on a college radio station in Riverside, CA.

April 5, 2002

- Added instructions for those who wish to save the monthly video clips.

-There was some dirty java programming language that I cleaned up. It was causing problems for people trying to access certain links on AOL's web browser for version 7. Only one person told me about this, but it must have affected others. Again, please tell me if you come across problems with the site - I promise you won't be bugging me...

April 2, 2002

- Updated News column on the Home Page.

April 1, 2002

- Rotated the video clip for April. Check out the Video page to see the band perform "Be Bop a Lula" and "She Don't Know Why I'm Here" at the Whisky in 1981 (thanks to Don Williams, who filmed the show).

March 23, 2002

- Added 12 MP3 clips to the Discography section, which replaces the ones that Amazon.com dropped when the CDs went out of print. Actually, this is a lot more clips than before... Enjoy... (Note: these are just CLIPS, and not entire songs (as on the MP3.com page)) Also note that these new MP3s are on AOL's server, which isn't as reliable as it should be. If you get an error message, just hit your browser's BACK button and try again - the AOL server was probably busy...

March 20, 2002

- Added the Song Contest to the Home Page. I had this contest here back when this site began, then took it off for various reasons. Well, now it's back - so visit the home page (where you just were) and try to win some Disney tickets! Disneyland just upped their ticket prices to $45 for adults!

March 16, 2002

- Updated News column on the Home Page. Also added a News Archive page for old News columns.

-Updated Gigs page for Stockage - then again as the day was announced.

-Lots of small upgrades for many pages - but just minor, stupid stuff that you won't notice... (except maybe the tribute page for Jeffrey Lee Pierce)

March 10, 2002 - Just a few minor things. First, added another review of the recent Brennan's gig (including a link to a photo page from the show) to the Reviews section.

Added one of those pictures from John's Local Band Pix to the History section (2002).

Added the color corrected comments from the Painting Smiles album to its info page in the Discography section.

March 6, 2002 - Amazon.com has deleted all the song clips except for "She Don't Know Why...," so I had to fix a bunch of pages in the Discography section to reflect this. I will replace these sound clips with clips of my own sometime soon.

March 5, 2002 - Added the sign-up notice for The Last Mailing List. For info, either write me, or read the blurb. It's on the Home Page.

March 4, 2002 - Added a News column to the Home Page. As I was editing it, word came in that the Last would most likely perform at Stockage in Colorado next month. It's still not definite, but stay tuned...

The MP3s for the 1997 demo have been taken off the MP3.com page, and will be replaced by clips from these songs soon.

March 1, 2002 - Rotated the video clip on the Video page. This starts a monthly rotation of videos on the site - a new clip every month! This month's clip comes from a 1981 performance at LA's Whisky-A-Go-Go, and was filmed by Don Williams, the guy behind the Wednesday Week Web Site.

Finally discovered how to fix the opening sound on the Home Page. Now it doesn't skip and pause.

Feb 26, 2002 - Added 20 reviews (all from 1978) to the Reviews section. Created a few links to those reviews from the History section.

Feb 25, 2002 - To the Reviews section I added a picture from the Brennan's gig the other night, sent in by former Last / Earwigs / Winkees / Hector & the Clockwatchers stud Tom Underhill. Joe sent me a bunch of reviews from the '70s. I'll post them very soon, but today I was playing with the digitized version of a 1978 Last concert that needs major restoration work. Still not quite sure how to tackle it - there are a few different ways.

Oh, why am I rambling on?...

Feb 24, 2002 - minor changes to Gigs page and History section (2002) to reflect the band's return, as well as lots of posts to the Message Board (which I normally don't list here).

Feb 23, 2002 - Added my own review of last night's show to the Reviews section.

Added a couple of years to the History section (it's really not that much - pretty sparse).

Like CDnow, Amazon is now listing "Confession," "Awakening," & the Rhino compilation "We're Desperate" as "out of print." However, their link is still there, since they also offer used copies of these CDs for sale. So right now, the only CD still in print is the last one, "Gin and Innuendoes," available directly from SST Records. Also, there are still vinyl releases in print: "L.A. Explosion" from Bomp Records; and the 7" single "Up in the Air" & compilation LP "Warfrat Tales," both from Happy Squid Records.

Feb 16, 2002 - Song notes for "Awakening" added to the Discography page.

Gigs page updated a bit, but better info will be added in a few days...

Feb 13, 2002 - Song notes for "Gin and Innuendoes" added to the Discography page. Joe writes that it is the final installment of the song notes, but I haven't received the notes for "Awakening" yet.

Still not sure what time the concert will be on 2/22 or who else will be on the bill. I'll update the Gigs page when I find out myself...

Jan 31, 2002 - For some reason, CDnow no longer sells "Confession," "Awakening," or the Rhino compilation "We're Desperate," so I've switched their links to Amazon.com. The Amazon link takes you to a list of Last stuff, as well as some other cool stuff I think you'll like. I think the only CDnow link I left up is for the compilation "Listen and Learn With Vibro-Phonic," which, strangely, Amazon.com doesn't carry.
